I did not steal N21bn as Interior Minister – Abba Moro

Abba Moro

The immediate past Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has denied his involvement in the alleged disappearance of N21bn during his term as the minister.
He also denied his alleged arrest by anti-graft agencies as widely reported on social media.
Moro said he got several calls from friends and well-wishers when the news of his alleged arrest hit the media.
He said some persons who came to his residence to verify the rumour were shocked when they met him at home unperturbed.
The former minister spoke at a reception in his honour at his country home, Ugbokolo, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State on Sunday.
He said those flying the rumour were only out to dent his hard-earned name and reputation, saying throughout his tenure as a minister, the ministry did not even record a budget of N10bn.
According to him, it was only proper for him to accept responsibility for every action and inaction of his subordinates, particularly the Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercise, where 16 people died.
He lashed out at the Peoples Democratic Party members, who defected to the All Progressives Congress after the PDP lost power at the centre, describing them as fair-weather politicians.

The ex-minister urged current members of the PDP to remain steadfast as the party would soon bounce back, having realized its mistakes.
